Barrel Cacti are always found in either a cylindrical or  barrel  shape. They are covered in large, usually thick spiky quills that are 2 to 3 inches long. Unlike many Cactus, the \"golden barrels\" get more and more beautiful as they grow. It is fairly quick growing at first; then the growth rate slows right down. So you can expect to wait about 10 years for the cactus to reach 10 inches in diameter.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe golden barrel cacti will produce yellow flowers during mid-summer, although these are unlikely to appear indoors..
