The stems are 4- to 5-ribbed, mostly prostrate, basally slightly tapering and up to 10 cm long. The tubercles are spreading to slightly ascending and up to 1.5 cm long. The flowers appear in summer to fall.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch5\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eEnvironment\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/h5\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOrbea plants prefer early morning or late afternoon sun. They will require much water and soaking the pots. They will tolerate very hot weather outdoors as long as they are kept in filtered light and this will encourage them to flower in the Autumn. They also enjoy some fertilizer. \u003cbr\u003e As soon as they are flowered be sure to take extra precautions to keep them dry, because damp cool conditions when the plants are resting is an invitation to fungal infections\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSince roots are quite shallow, use a cactus mix or add extra perlite or pumice to regular soil potting soil.
